What is our Montessori Program about?

In 1907, Dr. Maria Montessori developed what she called the “prepared environment”, which possesses a certain order and allows children the freedom to work at their own pace within the classroom. Certain areas of the classroom contain work that children can access at any time while more advanced material is presented by the directress at appropriate and individualized times, dependent upon each child’s level of development.
The directress prepares the classroom, organizing distinct areas of mathematics, geography, language, sensorial and practical life, each in a particular order. She spends considerable time observing the children in her classroom, and then works individually with them in the various subject matters. She tracks their progress, and builds on their knowledge and experience by introducing lessons at the proper time and in an ordered sequence.
This program follows the school district calendar September-May and allows admittance for 3-6 year old students that are potty trained.
